Staten Island Arts (SIA) was founded in 1992 as a grassroots arts collective by working artists and arts administrators who regarded a local arts agency as an essential tool in community-based cultural development. Staten Island Arts’ mission is to foster art, community, and culture from shore to shore. Communications and Marketing Manager

Staten Island Arts seeks to hire a part-time Communications and Marketing Manager. This position will support the 30-year old arts council at a crucial time of growth for community arts on Staten Island.

Working in collaboration with the Executive Director, the Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for implementing an overall organizational communications plan encompassing print and digital marketing. This role works closely with SIA program managers (Grants Administrator, Community Programs Manager) and the Executive Director to create content for print and digital communications and market the organization and its programming. This role creates an editorial calendar and accompanying operating procedures that ensure timely release of information.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, develop and manage Staten Island Arts’ overall brand, ensuring its alignment with SIA’s mission, vision, values, activities, stakeholders and constituents.
  • Execute all marketing campaigns on behalf of the organization, including organizational, programmatic, initiative and/or project-based. This includes collaborating with the ED on the conceptualization of campaigns and creating/managing schedules and budgets.
  • Ongoing management of digital communications, including social media content, website and special initiatives (grantee marketing, etc).
  • Coordinate, edit, build, and distribute email campaigns, including newsletters and event promotions.
  • Produce graphic assets for programs, website, social media and other communications.
  • Strategy and implementation toward optimization of website including SEO
  • Social Media: create and manage editorial calendar, in collaboration with program managers; organize, schedule, and post engaging and dynamic social media content across multiple platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter), schedule, and track engagements.
  • Metrics Tracking: Monitor new developments and trends in social media and marketing and make recommendations for new initiatives, digital strategies, campaigns, and platforms. Create quarterly reports to track social media, website views and email reach.
  • Public liaison: Serve as Staten Island Arts’ primary spokesperson for press relationships, external press inquiries and digital promotional appearances as deemed needed. The staff member may also be asked to represent Staten Island Arts and its community-based arts partners at citywide and statewide gatherings if applicable.
  • When appropriate and with approval from SIA leadership, hire and collaborate with external contractors or firms hired for specific campaigns.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of applicable marketing or communications experience. Experience working at a gallery, PR agency, museum, or cultural institution valued but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (or comparable design software) is necessary
  • Knowledge of and experience with SEO optimization, Google Analytics and Tag Manager, Facebook Ad Manager.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, and HTML.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including ability to write impactful language.
  • Strong eye for detail in graphic design, print quality, text accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and project implementation skills, including maintenance of digital files shared with multiple parties.
  • Experience with implementing an editorial calendar and coordinating project schedules in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a part of a small organizational team. Must possess accountability for projects, goals, and outcomes.

Compensation
This is a part-time position planned for part-time, 20 hours per week with a salary of $26,000 annually. SIA continues to work in a hybrid virtual/in office model.
