These communities, home to hundreds of artists and arts organizations, are undergoing unprecedented development. During this time of rapid transformation, Future Culture: Connecting Staten Island’s Waterfront project, a partnership between Staten Island Arts and the Design Trust for Public Space, has built constituencies around a vision for the waterfront that supports the unique cultural communities of Staten Island’s North Shore, develops initiatives that connect places and people, and strengthens relations between the cultural sector and owners and stewards of property. Staten Island Arts and Design Trust, with a team of Fellows, and in collaboration with local residents, artists, civic activists, and small business owners, implemented a series of activities +  and developed recommendations + to encourage cultural sustainability.
